Thousands gathered and marched for miles in Waikiki, protesting not only the TMT on Mauna Kea, but also fighting for land preservation issues such as GMO’s. The estimated crowd of the march consisted of 10,000 to 11,000 people. “People are rising up and coming together to have a stronger voice,” said Lori Halemano, who was one of the protesters arrested atop Mauna Kea in June. Honolulu Police blocked off road for the protesters to continue their march by chanting, singing and blowing the pu. Most of them shouting ““ku kiai mauna” or “guardians of the mountain.” Marchers were then encouraged by passing drivers who honked along the way for support. The people of Maui also marched for Aloha Aina Unity. To watch the Video of the March in Maui, click the link provided in parenthesis.
